how do you as a reader translate this short poem?

“two ways to escape”

light go out
two ways to escape the night
lay silent till I choose…

to leave the headphones in,
listen to a voice
and let the art out scream the artist

or to take them out
and listen to the voice
already in my head…..
“lights go out” (is supposed to be the first line)

There are two voices within you. The artist within you and the art itself. Before choosing between the two, there si one more thing to do i.d listening to the voice through the headphone. Any way, you want the headphones to be removed and go internally. As you go internally, you have two options. One to listen to the voice of the artist and that of the art itself. But what is the art, that is separate from the artist. Who created the art, apart from the artist? Did it create itself or done by some one other than the artist himself.? Or although the artist created the art, the latter developed an independent consciousness of itself and got the freedom to scream at the artist? Like a child born out of the womb of the mother, becomes an independent life of its own. The last para talks about the possibility of listening to a voice that is already in the head. Is that the voice of the artist. I believe so. What should one have escape the night through the art and artist. A sound sleep is what is expected in the night. The goddess of sleep reigns in the night. She is as good as your mother, who smothers you from the day’s care and worries and allows you to rest from pangs of life.Why escape from the soothing touch of mother called night?
