Because silver is cool in tone, it looks best against the skin of people with fair colouring and pinkish skin tone. But do not let this discourage you if you have olive or dark skin colouring or yellowish skin tone. As long as you wear your silver jewelry accessories with taste, you will definitely look good in them.
Caring for Your Silver Jewellery
There is one disadvantage to silver jewellery that gold does not possess, and that is the fact that silver jewellery requires more attentive care. That is because most of the silver jewellery that you will find amongst jewellery for sale are not pure silver. Silver alloys used for making jewellery are only 92.5% silver; the remaining 7.5% is actually copper. Silver, in its purest form, is too soft to be of practical use.
Copper, as durable as it is, has the tendency to tarnish if it is not handled properly. When your silver jewelry accessories get tarnished, they will darken and lose the coolness that makes them beautiful. Therefore, it is very important that you store your silver jewellery pieces in cloth wraps or bags specially treated against tarnish.
Another way you can keep your fine silver jewellery shiny and tarnish-free is by polishing it regularly with special silver-cleaning cloth. According to old wives’ tales, toothpaste is a good silver cleaner. But you should not use toothpaste on your silver because toothpaste is too abrasive and will only damage your jewellery.

Tone Soul Evolution $13.98 The second full-length album by the Apples in Stereo isn’t as surprising as their debut, 1995’s Fun Trick Noisemaker, but it doesn’t sound like simply more of the same. Graced with a larger budget and access to a fully equipped 24-track recording studio for the first time, the group (particularly singer/songwriter/producer Robert Schneider) is working with a much larger canvas now, and it shows. The sound of this album is just remarkable, as layered as any of Jeff Lynne’s mid-’70s Electric Light Orchestra albums, but with a freshness and energy that keeps things from merely sounding slick. Schneider explores his fascination with Smile-era Brian Wilson on atmospheric linking tracks like “The Silvery Light of a Dream” and the album’s wordless coda, giving the record a sonic unity arguably missing from the all-over-the-map Fun Trick Noisemaker. The one flaw is that the songwriting is not quite up to the consistency of the debut; while songs like “You Said That Last Night,” “Seems So,” and especially “Shine a Light” are exemplary, there are a couple of tracks that have a whiff of filler about them. Most of the Ikettes’ funky, infectious singles are here, including “Camel Walk,” “He Is (Fine, Fine, Fine”) and “Peaches ‘n’ Cream.” Their soulful Supremes imitation “I’m So Thankful,” written by Marc Gordon and Frank Wilson, display a modest side of Ike Turner’s hand-picked mini-skirted, rump-shakin’ divas. They slathered soul sauce all over the Jaynettes’ eerie “Sally Go Round the Roses,” and the soulful, lamenting “How Come Nobody Loves Me” is a crusher.
